Quality Engineer/Supervisor

The Quality Engineer / Supervisor position reports directly to the Quality Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties described below.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all required ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 certifications
  • Lead/Complete required internal audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 17025
  • Participate in the ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 external audits
  • Maintain all required equipment calibrations per ISO specifications
  • Develop/Update all inspection method and/or procedures for quality department
  • Maintain a cross-trained staff and ensure all inspectors are trained on new/update policies

Review / Audit training recorders for accuracy

  • Implementation of company safety, HR, regulatory policies, and procedures
  • Participate and support continuous improvement activity within the facility, standardization of manufacturing processes, scrap reduction, non-conformance mitigation for internally and externally customers
  • Investigate and root cause quality concerns(internal/external) and develop corrective actions to provide prompt resolution, with verification of corrective actions
  • Review customer complaint for containment and investigation
  • Review/Track Engineering Change Orders that affect the facility/quality department, which include reviewing of part(s), containment of part(s) and disposition of part(s)
  • Train all personnel to quality expectations and customer quality issues within the manufacturing facility
  • Assist with material disposition for non-conformances within the facility
  • Supervision of non-exempt inspectors within the quality department
  • Distribute and direct daily work assignments received from Quality Manager to the inspection team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the quality manager

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, routers, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information verbally to subordinates, supervisor, co-workers and in groups.

Customer Communications

This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the company’s future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. Most interactions will be with internal customers. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, technical and sensitive issues. Success in this area is vital for the development of the existing and future business.

Critical Competencies:

Self-starter who can thrive in a dynamic team environment with minimal management guidance. Ability to learn test methods, train staff members, direct process standardization. Basic understanding of machining practices with GD&T knowledge, problem solving, six sigma, lean concepts. Fluent in English, with the ability to document and follow procedures. Leadership and management of department to foster improvement in production efficiency and reduction in process and product variation.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field of study required
  • 2-4 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-4 years experience in supervision
  • Blueprint / GD&T experience
  • ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 experience
  • Black Belt Certification Preferred, Green Belt Acceptable
  • Must be computer literate on all Windows applications
